Choosing the best Content Management System (CMS) for your blog

In this tutorial am going to talk about choosing the right CMS, but before I talk about that, let me assume that you are all beginners, so I would start by defining CMS as an acronym which stands for content management system, it is a web application or software designed to enable people who have no knowledge about coding to build websites, blogs, manage their website contents, without the use of HTML and CSS codes, etc.

In this era of the internet, there are many CMS that are available online, though they do the same thing but they differ in the quality of services they offer, so therefore you must make use of the good quality CMS if you want to build a good blog.

It can get so confusing when it comes to selecting a suitable CMS for your blog, from my experiences with content management systems, I suggest you make use of Word press or Google’s Blogger, take note each of them has their disadvantages and advantages. Let me begin with WordPress.

  WordPress

WordPress is a content management system (CMS) created by Matt Mullenweg on the 27th of May 2003. It was created for people who had a passion to build and manage websites and blogs without writing codes. WordPress was built with a programming language and a database server (PHP and MySQL).

ITS PROS AND CONS

It is believed that every choice comes with advantages and disadvantages, so using WordPress come with advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages of using WordPress

  • User friendly: It is very easy to set up an account in WordPress, build a website or blog with it without knowledge of Html and CSS.
  • Free domain hosting: WordPress offers free domain hosting and domain services
  • Free website templates: WordPress offers its users who can't afford to purchase a high-quality template for their blog website or blog
  • Easy SEO ranking: writing a high-quality SEO post is much easier in WordPress because it has paid plugins like Yoast SEO, that will analyze your post or article and indicate what is missing to make your post rank.

   Disadvantages of using WordPress

  • · Although WordPress offers free domain services, it restricts users found in the category of the free domain from using some important features like video upload,, audio upload and plugins
  • ·When it comes to cybersecurity, WordPress is not reliable as it has been observed that websites and blogs built with WordPress are highly vulnerable to hackers and cyberbullies.
  • WordPress is not reliable When it comes to managing media files like videos that you upload on your WordPress made website or blog because it takes time to load that post which is a factor that can disqualify your blog from ranking on the first page of Google search result(SEO).

                                                 BLOGGER

Blogger is also a Content Management System (CMS) that was created and launched by Pyra Labs on August 23, 1999, but was later sold to Google in February 2003. It was created for building only blogs. And blogs built with Blogger are hosted by Google and generally accessed by subdomain of “blogspot.com”. Also, Blogger was with a programming language called “python”.

ADVANTAGES

  • EASY TO USE: blogger is very easy to use.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: Blogger is also accessible with mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, etc.
  • FREE FOR ALL: with the help of Blogger, you can use the best of their services to acquire the best result for free, with no charges, unlike WordPress.
  • Users are allowed to publish blogs to their own preferable web hosting server through FTP(File Transfer Protocol)
  • Users can a location to his or her post through geotagging.
  • Users can add labels for their posts to make post to be organized

DISADVANTAGES

  • The free template blogger offers to its users may not meet your satisfaction

With the few points I have made, I believe that you will be able to choose btw these two Content Management systems that I mentioned in this article.
